Fair Oaks Emergency Department

At Fair Oaks ED, we care for more than 50,000 patients a year; 18-20% are pediatric cases. Admission rates are at 18-20%. At Fauquier, ED volumes are 35,000 a year; 15-17% are pediatric cases.
All diagnostic services are available 24/7/365 at Fair Oaks. For example, if necessary you can obtain an MRI on a weekend overnight shift without encountering barriers. Radiology readings are performed by a large local radiology group. No wet reads by emergency physicians necessary. Turnaround times for radiology interpretations are superb.
Pediatric Hospitalist, OB Hospitalist, and Anesthesia.

Yes, we have a variety of specialists that we consult:

Cardiology, Pulmonary, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Palliative Care, Plastic Surgery, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Ortho, Neurology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, and Dermatology

Yes, we offer paid professional liability insurance with tail coverage.

ICU is open but we have an intensivist on duty during the day. We still see our patients. We also have ICU remote telemonitoring for the nights if needed.

No, we do not.

At Inova Fair Oaks Hospital we use EPIC and at Fauquier Hospital we use Meditech.

Fair Oaks Hospital Medicine

A lot of hospitalist groups work 7 shifts on and 7 shifts off.  We do not do that. Our physicians will work 4-5 days in a row followed by 3-4 days off. They are required to work some nights (if hired for day shifts) and at least two weekends out of the month. We also have a call back-up schedule.

For FT, they are required to work a minimum of 12 shifts a month.

7a-7p
7a-5p
1p-11p (admits patients)
7p-7a

Yes, we are required to go to rapid responses/codes.
