Dr. Paul Tripathi joined VEMA in 2014 and now serves as President at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and Fauquier Hospital. With more than 16 years of experience as an emergency physician and healthcare consultant, Dr. Tripathi is overseeing the creation of a dedicated pediatric emergency department at Fair Oaks. He is also Chairman of Inova’s Pediatric Emergency Services System Team (PESST). In this role, Dr. Tripathi focuses on quality-improvement initiatives throughout the entire Inova system. As an independent medico-legal and practice management consultant, he offers consulting services on a wide variety of issues, including medical liability and other legal matters.
Prior to joining VEMA, Dr. Tripathi was Director of Trauma for the emergency departments at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Fairfax Children’s Hospital. During his nine years at Inova Fairfax, he taught residents and students from 11 different programs and institutions, including George Washington University and Georgetown. Over the course of his career, Dr. Tripathi has also worked at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Inova Loudoun Hospital, and several free-standing independent emergency care centers. Since 2013, he has served on the board of directors for Patient Ready Clinicians, a healthcare staffing company in Fairfax.
Dr. Tripathi earned his medical degree from Boston University and completed his internship and residency at Jacobi/Montefiore Medical Centers in Bronx, New York. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
