Steve Taylor

Dr. Steven Taylor joined VEMA in 2009 after receiving honorable discharge from the United States Army. Since joining VEMA, Dr. Taylor has been involved in various administrative support roles culminating in the role of Chief Financial officer. He has worked in private practice since 2009 and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Emergency medicine with participation as member at large and treasurer for the Virginia chapter.

Dr. Taylor is a graduate of Des Moines University medical school. He was the scholarship recipient of Health Professions Scholarship Program from the United States Army. He graduated internship and residency in Emergency Medicine from Madigan Army Medical Center and the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He served as attending physician and associate adjunct professor at Walter Reed Medical Center, teaching residents and medical students before joining VEMA.

From 2006-2008, Dr. Taylor proudly served his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served 16 months in Baghdad, Iraq as Emergency Physician at the busiest trauma center in the combat theater. During this time, Dr. Taylor gained valuable leadership and clinical experience with military medicine and was awarded the Bronze Star for his involvement in helping the 28th Combat Support Hospital demonstrate one of the most successful survival rates in the history of military medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Taylor is a Minnesota native and enjoys watersports, snowboarding, nutrition and exercise. He is a Minnesota sports fan, and he has 2 children and a dog, Kyle.
